Nearly a month after federal officials declared activity at Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano to have stopped, it started erupting once more on Thursday, CNN reported. Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

The U.S. Geological Survey said webcam images showed lava flow within the Halemaʻumaʻu crater in the volcano’s summit caldera.

The organization raised the volcano’s alert status from watch to warning and stated that it was assessing potential risks. According to the statement, the eruption has so far just affected the crater.

Kilauea eruption had increased earthquake activity beneath its summit which led to ground deformation, officials said.

This follows an earlier eruption on the same island of Hawaii when another volcano, Mauna Loa, awoke spitting out red lava last November.
