I dropped my pen and felt a rush of panic as I dove under my cluttered desk to pick it up. My messy workspace served as a constant reminder of the secret project burdening me and the guilt of using the Gravity Gun research facilities for my own venture. Worst of all – putting Natalie and myself in danger. But today, there is something new to worry about.

As I reached for the pen, something unusual caught my eye. A small device was tucked away beneath my desk, hidden cleverly behind a drawer. I knew way too well what it was. A bluetooth microphone and a transmitter.

My heart raced as I considered the implications. If Rashmoor had planted it, he might have overheard my conversations with Jamie. This meant only one thing… he knew about the Blue Hole. A cold shiver raced down my spine and my heart plummeted as an overwhelming sense of dread washed over me.

I initially struggled to accept the truth of what I was looking at. Fear gripped me tightly, making it difficult to think straight.

With utmost care, I decided to remove the device from its hiding place. My hands shook as I inspected the wires and circuits. I had to be extremely careful not to make any noise which would give away my discovery to whoever may be listening on the other side. “There is a good chance it’s not been sitting here for too long, and maybe Rashmoor hasn’t actually heard any of our discussions”, I thought to myself to calm down.

But my relief was short-lived. Just when I thought I had successfully removed it, an unexpected and piercing beep came out of it. My heart felt like it might leap out of my chest, and my body tensed up. I had a sinking feeling that I had alerted whoever was listening on the other end.

In a moment of frantic desperation, I hurriedly placed the device back where I had found it. Something was telling me this wouldn’t go unnoticed and the person currently on duty for this covert operation person knew what just happened.. but a moment later the device stopped sounding the alarm.

Despite the silence that was now filling my apartment, I had a very strong feeling I poked the hornet’s nest.. I had to find out what Rashmoor knew.

And to do that, I need Jamie’s help.
