Killian Rashmoor sitting in his office

I was standing in the heart of the security centre, the same one that Thorpinski and Nakamura breached, with my eyes scanning the myriad of screens displaying CCTV footage from every corner of the base. The control over this technological web gives me a sense of power, but it’s tinged with an ever-growing sense of paranoia.

“Rangemaster,” I bark, my voice echoing slightly in the room filled with the hum of monitors and the soft clicking of keyboards. “I want Thorpinski and Nakamura tracked. Every move, every whisper. If they so much as sneeze in a way I don’t like, I want to know immediately.”

Rangemaster nodded with a stoic expression. “Understood, sir. We’ll monitor them closely. And what about the Gravity Gun? It’s critical to our…”

To control that snake, it’ll require resources

I cut him off with a wave of my hand as my mind was racing with the implications of Thorpinski’s recent actions. “Leave that to me. The Gravity Gun is important, yes, but Thorpinski… he’s become a loose cannon. If we don’t control him, the Gravity Gun will surely slip out of our hands. We can’t afford any surprises. Not now.”

The thought of Thorpinski out there, possibly plotting another move against me, sends a ripple of anger through me. “And Nakamura,” I added, “do we know how she managed to sneak in that device and place it onto the Gravity Gun?”, I pressed Rangemaster.

“We still haven’t figured that out.”, he replied, “But we will. That can wait. Right now, Thorpinski is our priority.”

Is he working or planning his next move?

Rangemaster adjusted the surveillance feeds. “We’ll keep a tight watch, sir. You’ll be the first to know of any unusual activity.”

I nodded as my gaze returned to the screens and saw Thorpinski working in the lab, just as I expected him. “I really hope you’re not planning any more surprises..”, I whispered to myself.

The other images flicker with the lives of those under my command, but all I can see are potential threats, shadows that might be hiding Thorpinski’s next move. My grip on the base tightens and the noose of surveillance is drawing closer. Thorpinski and Nakamura won’t escape my watchful eye. The completion of the Gravity Gun project and the stability of my command depend on it.
