Research on black holes accelerates. What breakthrough is going to be the next?

For those thinking that black holes are purely work of fiction, here comes the proof that it’s quite the contrary.

3 scientists were awarded Noble Prize this month for their work on black holes – Sir Roger Penrose, Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez.

Over the last few decades, they have done extensive research on the topic and proved not only that they exist but developed equations that led to mathematically impossible conclusions.

Bizarrely, most scientists accept the very same mathematical models and agree that they are our best description of what black holes could look like on the inside.

The positive results have encouraged many researchers to focus on this field, which led to capturing a black hole in a picture for this time in history.

Another spectacular achievement shows that they could be doorways to other universes.

Although scientists agree that there is still lots we don’t understand about this astronomical phenomenon, with the growing number of researchers exploring the topic, they also think it’s just a matter of time before another breakthrough is made.

Who knows – perhaps one day we are even able to make use of this cosmic marvel?
