Space X has added a mystery rocket launch of their Falcon 9 rocket to their October schedule, Independent reported.
There is no official information about the mission’s objective, and observers speculate it could be a covert launch for the US military or a national security agency.
The US has two space programs – NASA leads the civilian space program, whereas the Department of Defense is in charge of the military aspect.
At this stage, it’s not clear which organization is commanding this mission.
As reported earlier this year by BBC, Russia is suspected of testing new space-based weapons and some observers speculate that the US is working on their own, orbit based, defensive system.
Whether or not Space X helps to locate weapons in space is not clear, but considering that the early stages of military operations are usually highly classified, it may be years before official information is made public.
